THE BATHROOM
This room usually needs more cleaning than de-cluttering, but you would be amazed at what can accumulate here. Don't forget to bring the trash bags.

Are there wet towels and face washers on the floor? Into the laundry basket with them. Bath toys lying around? Into a large plastic storage box with them and into the bath with the storage box. (Careful with this one-soap scum tends to accumulate on the bottom and needs cleaning at least once and week or it will start to pong). If you don't have a large enough container, make a few small holes in the bottom of a Woolies and Bi-Lo bag, put the bath toys in and hang it over the tap.

As soon as the kids are out of the bath, in their PJs and taking their clothes into the laundry, mop the floor while it's still wet and you'll never have to make a point of washing it. If you give the bath a good scrub maybe once a week, it should just need a rinse down before you put the toys over the tap and before you mop the wet floor.

What's on top of the vanity (if you have one)? A hair dryer? You're kidding!!! That is a very dangerous (potentially lethal) weapon to have in a bathroom-especially if you have children in the bath. Get it into the bedroom. The vanity cupboard is no place for anything electrical. Extra toilet rolls, shampoo, conditioner, bubble bath, toothpaste-but please, nothing electrical.

Wash down the vanity top and the basin. Clean the bath and shower (if they are separate). Clean the toilet, the toilet seat and cover, around the outside of the pan and don't forget the cistern.

What sort of condition is your shower screen in? Does it need washing (if it's fabric), replacing (if it's plastic) or scrubbing (if it's glass/Plexiglas). Soap scum is horrible to clean, but believe it or not, white vinegar and elbow grease is just about the best and cheapest way to get rid of soap scum from glass and tiles and leave a nice sparkle. A few minutes later, the 'chip shop' smell goes away. Vinegar is also great for cleaning the mirror.

How much clutter is in the bathroom cabinet? Put it all out and throw out all those old razor blades, bits of soap, empty or nearly empty bottles of perfume. Another tip-don't throw away empty perfume bottles. Take the tops off and put them into your (and your daughter's) underwear drawer and also the linen cupboard. Gives a nice scent and prevents that musty smell from building up.
