THE MASTER BEDROOM
Is the bed made or is it covered in clutter? Well you can't make the bed until you Clear the Clutter. Bring some trash bags into the room for the things you are going to throw away.

First things first. All the clutter on the bed-on the floor with it. Take the sheets and pillow cases off and put them in the laundry. Turn the mattress (if it's not a water bed). Make the bed using fresh sheets and pillow cases. Any dirty clothing or linen lying around? Get it into the laundry.

What's on top of the Dressing Table (or Chest of Drawers or whatever you use)? Throw any paper, or bits of junk into one of the trash bags. On the floor with the rest of it for the moment. Clean the Clutter-free top and dry it. Put only photographs, mirror or ornaments on the top again. Hair rollers, hairbrushes, hair dryers, make-up etc belong in a drawer. Clean the mirror.

Now check all the things on the floor. Anything to put away in a drawer? Put it away now. We'll come to cleaning and sorting drawers later-remember, one small job at a time. Shoes lying around? Into the bottom of the wardrobe with them for now. Anything else? Put it away or throw it into the trash bag. Don't forget to check what you've got hanging on the door handle.

Starting to look a lot better isn't it? What about bedside tables? Anything on top of them? Clear them away. Clean and dry the tops. You're getting the idea now aren't you?

Bedrooms (like kitchens) are very much a factor of each individual's personality and taste, so the details will be left to you, but the overall system still includes de-cluttering drawers and wardrobes and we'll come to them later.

Don't forget the light fittings, ceiling fan, skirting boards, frames, door tops, window ledges and glass.
